In the Metal Fabrication, Sheet Metal and Welding program students learn how to measure, cut, and bend metal to blueprint specifications. They learn how to operate the essential machines such as brakes, shears, presses, rolls, forming machines, welders and punches. They also learn how to layout and fabricate sheet metal fittings for the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning industries.
Students learn that welding is an important part of fastening metal components together. They receive extensive training in the various methods of welding, e.g. oxyacetylene cutting, electric arc, M.I.G. – T.I.G. and Plasma Arc cutting. The use of radiograph is taught to students during related classes, as well as rod identification, blueprint readings and all references to machinery concepts and processes.
